IHW singing sessions take place 8:00-11:00 p.m.on the first Wednesday of every month. We get together to have fun sharing songs and joining our voices together. The FUN is the important part! We’re mainly an acappella session, but if you feel you’d like to accompany yourself on a song that you lead, go for it. If you're shy at first and want to merely join in on the choruses or just listen, that's OK. But we look forward to the time when you lead some songs on your own. You'll enjoy it more and so will the rest of us!
The monthly sessions take place at the Niebyl-Proctor Marxist Library, 6501 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland, just north of Alcatraz, directly across the street from a Jack in the Box. Those using public transit can take AC Transit lines 1 or 1R along Telegraph Ave. from anywhere on Telegraph in Oakland or Berkeley, or from the 12th/19th Street BART stations. Or you can take AC Transit line 9 along Ashby -- you'd have to walk about 4 blocks from Telegraph and Ashby.
Feel free to bring beverage or a snack for yourself or to share. There is no admittance fee, but we encourage donations for the rent we pay to the library. $5 per person is welcomed, but pay what feels right to you.
And if you live near Auburn, CA, please
join Sharon Carl at a monthly session modelled on the
IHW monthly sing.
